 ACTI and TRADESLINK Announce Partnership for Enhanced Safety Training ACTI is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Trades Link and the Edmonton Construction Association, formalized through a signed memorandum of agreement. This collaboration aims to deliver cost-effective and timely safety training via the TRADESLINK / ACTI LMS platform.
As part of this partnership, we are excited to offer members of the Edmonton Construction Association complimentary WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) GHS 2015 training. This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring that all members have access to essential safety training at no cost, enhancing workplace safety and compliance across the industry. Additionally, we will provide a range of other safety training courses at reduced rates.
 All ECA members are encouraged to call ACTI to receive their discount coupons for these courses, as well as to access the free WHMIS training. This initiative will extend across all Local Construction Associations (LCAs) in Canada, ensuring widespread access to vital training resources.
 We look forward to a productive partnership and the opportunity to support the construction industry in enhancing safety standards. Together, we can create a safer work environment for all.

OH&S Changes 2024

Updates include changes related to first aid kits, working in confined spaces, and other work-related hazards. 15 March 2023 In December 2022 the Alberta Government announced upcoming changes to the Occupational Health and Safety Code (OHS Code). These changes, which take effect March 31, 2023, have been reviewed by Health, Safety and Environment for potential impacts to the University’s Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS) as well as to individual units. What are the changes? Most changes to the OHS Code are related to the following: Working in confined spaces First aid equipment, personnel and training Managing the control of hazardous energy Noise exposure In addition to the above, there were also a number of miscellaneous changes to the OHS Code, including several which could affect university faculty and staff: Updates to definitions in The OHS Code. HSE is working on a list of safety definitions as part of the Culture of Care Initiative which will include the current definitions. In general, this section is for reference only. Multiple sections that were updated with the most recent CSA Standard (including those related to eye protection, headwear and footwear). If you conduct work that involves CSA Standards, you will need to review the OHS Code to ensure you are in compliance with the correct version of the standard.
